There are many benefits to being a Group Coordinator—not only do our Group Coordinators travel for free when they recruit a group of six travelers, but they also earn cash bonuses and Global Reward points that can be redeemed for gift rewards or free Convention Tours.
Convention Tours are an opportunity for Group Coordinators to gather in an exciting destination, network with each other and meet the Go Ahead staff members that they’ve spoken with or emailed while recruiting their travel group. One afternoon of the Convention Tour is always dedicated to presentation and small group meetings, where Group Coordinators can share recruiting tips and learn more about Go Ahead.
“The small group sessions were very helpful,” said Group Coordinator Marcia Krull. “I enjoyed learning about the Operations team and what they are responsible for. Learning about travel trends was also interesting for me in terms of future tour planning.”
“As Group Coordinators, [learning about] travel trends and product development gives us insight into future travel opportunities,” Group Coordinator Judy Loeckle further explained. “This helps us plan and prepare more effective and enjoyable experiences for our fellow travelers.”
But the meeting portion of the tour is just one small part of the Convention Tour experience. In this year’s Convention Tour to Thailand, the group explored the floating markets in Bangkok and did some floating of their own on bamboo rafts on the Ping River. The most unforgettable experience of all may have been the nighttime rickshaw ride to the Phitsanuloke Night Market, where each traveler zipped through the city on their own lighted cart in a parade of whirring wheels.
One important aspect of a Convention Tour is that it gives Group Coordinators the opportunity to explore a new part of the world, and many scout destinations to come back to with their own travelers.
“Most of our group had never been to Southeast Asia before; many hadn’t even considered taking a group there until we chose it as our 2013 Convention Tour,” said Emily Graham, Group Tour Consultant. “But our time in Thailand was so magical, I’m expecting that many will return soon!”
