Visit to the Fragonard perfume factory
One of two major perfume houses in France, Fragonard is located in Grasse—a city many consider to be the perfume capital of the world. One of the oldest factories in the city, Fragonard provides a number of designer brands with their signature fragrances.
Seeing red: 3 things to know about Roussillon
Roussillon is famous for its ochre mines. The clay is pigmented reddish-orange as a result of iron oxide deposits from millions of years ago, when Provence was under water.
Much of the ochre was used to build the homes in Roussillon, giving the whole town a uniform shade of red that stands out among the surrounding green landscapes.
Many people in Roussillon also speak Catalan, since Roussillon is so close to Catalonia.
