Our copywriter Courtney T. is heading out to see the green countrysides and bustling cities of Ireland on our 11-day tour, Traditions of the Emerald Isle, where she’ll be live blogging her entire trip! Here, she answers some questions about her travels and what she does at Go Ahead.
What is your role at Go Ahead?
As a copywriter on the Brand Team, it’s my job to inform travelers about our tours and inspire them to experience the world through travel. I write everything from our catalog and emails to tour itineraries and posts for this blog.
Where have you traveled to before? What has been your favorite trip?
I’ve been lucky enough to travel through Europe to France, England, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. I fell in love with travel in Strasbourg, France—I stayed with a host family during a semester abroad in college and adored the experience of being immersed in a different culture.
What is your favorite thing about visiting a new place?
Getting to know a culture that’s different from my own is the main reason I love to travel. Whether it’s learning about a destination’s history or tasting authentic regional cuisine, every moment in a new location gives me the chance to learn something eye-opening and new.
Why did you choose to visit Ireland?
Ireland has such an interesting mix of landscapes and cities—and this particular tour encompasses both of these sides. Beyond the scenery and history, I also want to experience the local culture since I’ve heard that the Irish are a friendly and welcoming people.
What are you most excited to do or see on your tour?
It’s tough to pick just one thing since I’ve never been to Ireland before… so I’ll narrow it down to two instead. Dublin has such a rich history and was home to many famous authors, I’m really looking forward to exploring the city and learning more about it. I’ve also seen a lot of incredible photos of the Cliffs of Moher—I can’t wait to see them in person while on tour!
