We’ll take any excuse to celebrate a great glass of wine and, it turns out, so will Argentina. The Grape Harvest Festival (Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia) kicks off today in Mendoza, so now is a great time to open a bottle of Malbec to celebrate.
Dating back to 1936, this is Argentina’s biggest annual wine fest and it brings together aficionados from all over the world—everyone from field workers to wine drinkers.
Did you know?
– The festival is held every year in the city of Mendoza
– The Mendoza region is responsible for 70% of Argentina’s wine production
– 18 Harvest Queens—women elected from the surrounding provinces—kick off the festival on Friday evening
