Today was the day I had been most excited about since I found out I was going to China: The Great Wall! Our Tour Director told us that we could go two different ways: the scenic, easy path or all the way to the top—obviously I chose to scale the 1,673 steps to the top.
It started out as a nice incline before we came to the stairs and the vertical ascent. The climb was definitely a challenge, but it gave us time to enjoy the wall’s winding pathways, take in the view and stop at the turrets to take photos of the progress we’d made.
It was a picture-perfect day with a bright blue sky. It was the kind of sky I had seen in photos of the Great Wall hundreds of times—but really, nothing compares to being there seeing it in person! I took so many photos of my own:
