Today we arrived in Mykonos! We traveled by fast ferry from Santorini and arrived in the early afternoon. After checking in to our hotel, we had a couple of hours before our included dinner, so we explored the nearby Platis Gialos beach.
Lined with small shops and restaurants, it offered the perfect opportunity to grab a snack in view of the startlingly blue water full of yachts and small boats seeking shelter from the day’s strong winds.
Our dinner was one Greek specialty after another. We started with tzatziki, a creamy yogurt dip for our bread, followed by a hearty Greek salad of local tomatoes, cucumbers and feta cheese.
Our main course was moussaka, a layered pasta dish of eggplant, tomato sauce and salty cheese that resembles Italian lasagna. For dessert, we each had a small piece of baklava. The layered pastry is soaked in a honey syrup and is so sweet that a few bites is just enough.
