Today we ate breakfast in Paris and dinner in Rome. After a short flight we landed at Fiumicino Airport and made our way to the hotel. On the way to our welcome dinner, we had our first ride on the Rome metro.
While Rome does have a subway system, it’s not quite up to par with those in London or Paris. There are currently only two lines in operation, and a third has been in progress for over 20 years. Construction has been delayed due partially to archaeological discoveries along the path. Luckily, the two lines are enough to take us to to all of the big attractions in Rome.
For dinner tonight, we went to a small restaurant on a little cobblestone street. The restaurant had a great feel to it, warm lighting, spacious dining area and, of course, the music. There was a guitar player that seemed to know songs in every language. He came around to every table to take requests and he really knew how to get the crowd going. It was a really fun way to spend our first night in Rome.
