Customer Relations Representative Veronica Olsen explored Athens and ancient ruins on a tour of Greece. Here, she shares five moments that made the trip so special.
The Temple of Poseidon is located at Cape Sounion on the Apollo Coast outside of Athens. It was a nice to get outside of the city and the ruins along the coast are breathtaking. On a clear day, you can see five Aegean Islands from the site of the temple!
This is one of my absolute favorite photos that I took which was in Delphi. It was a candid moment which captures a quiet morning exploring the Delphi Oracle with the ruins all around as we made our way to the top to see the arena.
The Monasteries of Meteora are an unexpected sight as you wind around the back roads of Greece. This is the Holy Monastery of St. Nicholas—we drove up the winding roads and then hiked down to it.
Since the London Olympics just ended few months ago, it was exciting to visit Olympia, which is where the first games took place way back in 776 BC! This photo is of the finish line of the Stadium and it was really amazing to think of the history of the events which took place right where I was standing.
Here I am at the Epidaurus Amphitheater. Our guide had some of us go up into the stands and we could hear her talking from far below—the acoustics are phenomenal. Afterwards we climbed even higher—and the view was as great as the sound! I love that the Amphitheater is still used today.
