Packing a suitcase is hard enough—and shoes tend to be a trouble spot for almost every traveler as comfort, style and limited luggage space are important factors when it comes to deciding what to bring.
Our tip? Bring two pairs. That’s it!
PAIR 1: A dressier pair that’s comfortable enough to wear during a day with less walking on the itinerary. For ladies, this can be a pair of ballet flats or low-heeled boots. (Hint: Try amping up the comfort level of your favorite shoes by adding insoles or heel pads.)
PAIR 2: A more casual pair that you can walk in for miles. This pair is most likely comfortable sneakers.
PLUS, additional pairs are OK for:
A Walking Tour – Add a pair of waterproof boots. Depending on your planned walks, trail walking sneakers may work well.
Fancy dinners or events – Add a pair of heels or dress shoes. Or, wear PAIR 1 to your event and use other, easier-to-pack accessories to dress up your outfit.
Fitness – If you’re planning on working out while traveling, good for you! Bring your workout shoes, but consider wearing them on heavier walking days so you can leave your other walking shoes at home.
